CenMos is an all natural sugar complex of Mannan-based oligosaccharide. It is derived from Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast culture grown on a complex mixture of sugar. This mannose-containing carbohydrate can selectively stimulate the growth of beneficial bacteria, prevent the establishment of pathogens in the gut, absorb toxins in the feed, and enhance immune function. An All Natural Effective Alternative To Antibiotics

      Much interest has been generated lately to find an effective natural alternative to antibiotic use in livestock production.  Motivation for finding this alternative comes from increasing public scrutiny about the use of antibiotics in the animal feed industry as well as the need for a safer food supply.  CenMos is this  innovative all natural effective alternative to these antibiotics.

What is CenMos?

       CenMos is a special blend of all natural, advanced biotechnologically developed animal feed additive that is specially formulated to provide an effective alternative to antibiotics.  CenMos incorporated two most potent bioregulators and immuno-stimulants: Mannan Oligosaccharide and β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan.  These two potent immuno-activators have been used effectively to modulate gut microflora in an effort to reduce the impact of pathogenic challenge to the young animal.  Cenzone is a global leading manufacturer of these two potentimmuno-activators in the food and feed industries.


(1)    Mannan-Oligosaccharide:

        Mannan-Oligosaccharide is an all natural complex carbohydrate which serves as a substrate for the growth of specific beneficial bacteria in the lower gut and exhibit a prebiotic-like effect that influences cecal microflora and prevents the colonization of pathogens.

        Mannan-Oligosaccharide is especially beneficial on early-weaned pigs for 4 weeks post-weaning.  Mannan-oligosaccharide benefits young animals that have a maturing intestinal tract and are in the process of establishing a mature microflora population.  It may also have benefits during period of stress. 


(A)  Binding Pathogens:

   Mannan-Oligosaccharides occupy bacterial binding sites (lectins on  hair-like projections known as pili) on the surfaces of pathogens , thus preventing the binding of pathogens to the mucosal wall.  Mannan-Oligosaccharide binds with them and the complex can then be flushed  out of the animal.

(B)  Starving pathogens of sugars needed for growth:

   Mannan-Oligosaccharide when added to animal feed, is not digested by intestinal enzymes as animals do not have the enzymes that can act on mannan-oligosaccharide, but in fact is a substrate for the growth of beneficial bacteria.  When mannan-oligosaccharide is introduced into the GI tract, they selectively enhance the growth of beneficial lactic acid-producing bacteria like Bifidobacteria, Lactobacillus spp. and out competing and suppressing the proliferation of Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coliSalmonella spp., and Clostridium perfringens.  Pathogens cannot utilize mannan-oligosaccharide, cannot multiply and are starved to death.

(C)  Stimulation of immune response:

    Mannan-Oligosaccharide contains mannose and can affect the immune system by stimulation of the liver to secrete mannose binding protein.  This protein binds to the capsule of bacteria and triggers the complement "cascade" of immune response.  Mannan-Oligosaccharide  also has an adjuvant effect, i.e. increase the immunological response to drug, vaccine or antigen.  Thus mannan-oligosaccharide as a potent immuno-activator can naturally reinforce a normal healthy immune system.

Special Features of  Cenzone's Mannan-Oligosaccharide:

(A)     Extraction Of Cell Wall From Three Types Of Specially Cultured Fungi:   

     Cenzone's mannan-oligosaccharide is derived by enzymic hydrolysis of the cell wall of  three types of specially cultured fungi:  Paeciliomyces sp., Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast and Ganoderma lucidum (reishi mushroom).  This combination of cell wall extract from three fungal species provides a broad-spectrum of pathogen binding capacity with synergistic effects.   The three types of fungi are cultured under strictly controlled conditions, are autolysed and the resulting cell wall materials are carefully and stringently separated from the intracellular fungal contents. 

(B)     Proprietary stringent LTST (Low Temperature Short Time) spray drying manufacturing process maintains the purity of the product and prevents destruction of the terminal binding sites of the mannan-oligosaccharide which are absolutely essential for maximum product efficacy. 

(C)     Phosphorylation:

          Cenzone's mannan-oligosaccharide is phosphorylated to increase pathogenic binding capacity and potentiate the immnuno-stimulating response.  Cenzone's phosphorylated mannan-oligosaccharide can effectively bind and adsorb various pathogenic bacteria including the Gram-negative Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella sp., Pseudomonas sp., Shigella sp., Vibrio sp., Shigella sp..

(2)    β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan:

         This revolutionally all-natural  highly purified immune cell activator and anti-tumor polysaccharide is derived from proprietary fermentation process of the cell wall extract of specific Paeciliomyces sp., Saccharomyces cerevisiae  Yeast and Ganoderma lucidum (reshi mushroom). 


    There are highly specialized receptors on the surface of large immune system cells called macrophages that can be activated by β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan.  Since the macrophage is evidently unable to distinguish the β1,3D-Glucan linkage from a primary pathogen at specific receptor sites, it triggers and activates a "cascade" of immune events in much the same manner as if an actual pathogenic challenge existed. Turning the immune system into "an arsenal" of defence.  An activated macrophage can recognize pathogenic and tumor cells non-specifically, it can also produce a number of essential cytokines (Interleukin-1  IL-1, Interleukin-6   IL-6 and Tumor Necrosis Factors) that are able to induce systemic activation. β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan  enhances macrophage production dramatically and to increase non-specific host resistance to a variety of bacterial, fungal, parasitic infections and tumor growth. β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan has a broad spectrum of immunopharmacological activities and is beneficial in the therapy of bacterial, viral, fungal diseases.  It also enhances the effects of antibiotics. β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan is the only macrophage activator that is completely non-toxic, non-pathogenic and one of the most potent stimulators of non-specific immune response.

           The oral effectiveness of β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan is proven by the fact that the fate of β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan taken orally differs from the one for other feed additives. β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan is acid resistant so that it passes through the stomach virtually unchanged.  Furthermore, the intestine of animals lacks a specific enzyme (β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucanase) that could break it down to glucose or di-glucose , which can be absorbed through the intestinal wall.


(A)  The β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan configuration:

The β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan configuration is primarily responsible for the enhanced immune abilities, but the β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan configuration by providing more lateral bonding sites on its molecule is more effective than the β1,3-D-Glucan configuration.  Most Beta Glucan products on the market are using the β1,3-D-Glucan as ingredient.  The β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan is many more times more effective than the β1,3-D-Glucan in macrophage activation.

(B)  The length of the β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan molecule must consist of a minimum of 27 repetitive sugar units to be effective as a macrophage activator.  As the longer the molecule of the beta-glucan, the more bonding sites that can be used to activate the macrophages, the stronger the immuno-stimulating effects can be. Cenzone's patented and proprietary manufacturing process produces beta-glucan in the β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan configuration and the length of the beta-glucan is a long chain of  few hundred repetitive sugar units. 

(C)  CenMos's β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan is highly purified:

The cell walls of the fungi Paecilomyces sp., Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast and Ganoderma lucidum (reshi mushroom) are the sources of beta-glucan.  The cell wall of these fungi is basically a glucose shell coated with an outer layer of mannoproteins.  If the beta-glucan is not sufficiently purified, with the mannoprotein and fibrillar layer (the outermost layer of the fungal cell wall)  intact and not removed, then the inner beta-glucan layer is not exposed -- in other words, it will not be recognized by the beta-glucan receptors on the macrophage.  Most beta-glucans on the market are simply baker's yeast or crude and impure beta-glucans and will not have the full macrophage activating capability.

(D)  Micronization of Beta-Glucan:

CenMos's β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan is micronized to increase the surface area so that more β1,3-β1,6-D-Glucan configuration surface will be available for attachment to the macrophage for activation.
